Old Fashioned Soft Sugar Cookies

3 1/4 C. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Put into large bowl or mixer:
1/2 C. shortening or butter (soft)
1 C. sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Add:
1/2 C. thick sour cream
Add sifted flour mixture, Beat on low speed only until blended, about 1 minute.
Scrape bowl while beating.
Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4 " thickness. Cut dough, sprinkle with sugar.
Put on cookie sheet.
Bake: 350 degrees or 375 degrees depending how hot your oven gets about 12 minutes. or until golden brown.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen
cookies.
